Health Insurance

SU strongly recommends students have adequate health insurance to cover expenses not included by the mandatory health fee and medical expenses incurred outside SU Health Services. If you have been enrolled under your parents' policy, please check their policy to make sure you are still eligible for coverage.

Group health plans often do not cover a dependent once he or she has reached a specific age, married, or declared financial independence. Students who have coverage through an HMO, PPO, or similar coverage should determine restrictions on obtaining medical care while away from home. If you do not have health insurance or are not adequately covered, the University offers a student health insurance plan that may meet your needs. The plan is designed for SU and SUNY ESF students and is one of the most comprehensive plans available.
