SUID Card Photo Submission

Your SU I.D. card will serve as your official University identification and will give you access to residence halls, dining centers, snack operations, athletic facilities, library privileges, vending machines, Carrier Dome and Schine Box Office event tickets, laundry services, and the Schine Copy Center.

Follow the steps below to insure that your permanent SU I.D. will be waiting for you at your residence hall check-in. If you are living in a South Campus apartment or off campus, your I.D. will be at Gate E of the Carrier Dome during opening week.

Activate your syr.edu e-mail address. This is the only address you can use for this process. To access your official e-mail address, you must obtain your NetID. To do so, go to the NetID web sit at netid.syr.edu. MyMail is the University's web-based e-mail system which students use to access their official syr.edu e-mail address. Information about using MyMail is available on the web at its.syr.edu/email/mymail. If you have questions about your syr.edu e-mail account, contact Information Technology Services at 315-443-2677 or consult@syr.edu.

Upload you picture to idphoto.syr.edu. Log in using your nine-digit SU I.D. number and your birth date (mm/dd/yy). Indicate your status (SU undergraduate)

Attach a digital photo that fulfills the requirements listed below. It must be in .jpeg format and no more than 2MB. Please note: You will be allowed to send one photo only. If we determine that it cannot be used, we will notify you and give you the option of sending another.

If for any reason you are unable to send a photo electronically, you can mail a photo to us. An acceptable photo should be wallet or passport photo size; a senior picture is acceptable. Please indicate your name, I.D. number, and status (SU undergraduate) on a separate piece of paper and not on the back of the picture. This information should be mailed to Syracuse University, I.D. Card Services, 202 Steele Hall, Syracuse NY 13210-1120.

When selecting a photo, please keep these requirements in mind.

  • The photo should be:

A high quality, clear, color photo with a plain background
  • A front view of your whole face – no other people/animals in the photo
  • Taken within the last three months
  • Taken without a hat or dark glasses

Please note that we reserve the right to refuse to use any photo that we deem inappropriate. All photos will be digitally stored for University use only. As an added incentive, if your photo is received by June 30 your name will be included in a drawing in which you will be eligible to win one of the following:

$100 SUpercard Food dollars – 4 Winners
$75 SUpercard Food dollars – 4 Winners
$50 SUpercard Food dollars – 4 Winners
$25 SUpercard Food dollars – 4 Winners

We will still be able to process photos received between July 1 and August 15. However, if your photo is received during that time period, you are NOT eligible for the SUpercard Food drawings.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to send in a photo and eliminate one of the many tasks that need to be completed during opening week. If you are unable to send a photo either electronically or by mail, a temporary I.D. card will be produced and waiting at your residence hall. A permanent I.D. picture will be taken upon your arrival; the schedule of dates and times will be make public later this summer.

If you have any questions about I.D. cards, call us at 315-443-2726
