How to register

Register for a pre-orientation program through the Orientation Registration Form  available between June 1 and July 15.

Please note: You are not an official program participant until you receive a confirmation email from your pre-orientation program coordinator.

Access 'Cuse

Sponsored by the Office of Disability Services

Dates: August 21-22
Cost: $50

Do you plan to access testing, classroom or other disability related accommodations while attending SU? You’re invited to attend Access `Cuse, providing you with an opportunity to move-in early in order to address your transitional concerns as a student with disability, learn about our resources and how to access testing and classroom accommodations. You will have priority in making your appointment with your assigned counselor and to sign-up for worksops. Evening welcome, breakfast, and lunch is included for students and guests.

Commuter Students Unite

Come join the Office of Off-Campus and Commuter Services for a fun day on SU's ropes course! Interact with OCCS staff and community ambassadors during teambuilding challenges on the high and low ropes course. Lunch will be provided.

`Cuse First

Are you the first in your family to attend college? This program is specifically designed with the needs of SU’s incoming first generation students in mind! Come meet other first-gen students and participate in this helpful transition-focused program.  Sessions will include study tips, how to navigate the University, managing your finances, and more. You’ll feel more prepared for your first week of classes after this informative start to your SU career!

Syracuse Hillel is proud to offer FreshFest, a three-day pre-orientation program for incoming students. Move-in early, learn about Jewish life at SU, and get to know campus, and the Syracuse area through a variety of activities and field trips, along with 150 incoming students and 70 upperclassmen FreshFest facilitators. You'll be paired with an upperclassman mentor who will welcome you to campus and answer any questions you may have about your experience.

LOOP: Adirondack Adventure

The Leadership Outdoor Orientation Program (LOOP) is designed to give incoming first-year students a jump-start on their college experience while engaging in outdoor adventure activities including low and high element challenge course, hiking, flat-water kayaking and canoeing, as well as campfires, and starry night hikes. This program provides an opportunity to move-in early and go off-campus to the serene setting of the Oswegatchie Educational Center, located within the majestic Adirondack Park region of New York.

LOOP: Odyssey Adventure

Join your classmates on an adventure that will be sure to kick your first year into high gear! During this program you'll develop various skills on our outdoor "Odyssey" style challenge course. Throughout the program you will not only get an opportunity to experience all the high element challenge course has to offer but you will also "learn the ropes" so to speak. We will teach you the basics of challenge course facilitation as you develop skills that will help you on your journey through college such as; positive relationship and trust building, effective communication, resiliency and determination, as well as the ability to think through and solve problems; not as an individual, but as a contributing member of a team and larger community.

Transfer Transitions

Are you transferring to SU? Transfer Transitions is a two-day program designed to help new transfer students find the answers to their questions and prepare for their academic career at SU. Sessions include an introduction to academic resources and services, tips on getting involved in campus life, and how to navigate campus.  You will have the opportunity to connect with other new transfer students and the Transfer Transitions Leaders, who are returning transfer students who will serve as a resource throughout your transition to SU!

Transitioning Military Veterans to University Life

Sponsored by the Office of Veteran & Military Affairs and the Office of Engagement Programs

Dates: August 19-20
Cost: No fee

Students and their families will enjoy an introduction to the Syracuse University campus and engage in conversation over dinner. A full day orientation will be held the following day focused on veteran resources, student support services, and services provided by Hendricks Chapel. Students will also be lead on a campus tour. Every student that attends this orientation program will have the opportunity to be paired with an on-campus student mentor that will help them learn about all the opportunities that campus offers. This pre-orientation program is open to all first-year and transfer military veteran students.
