Student Assistance
When challenges arise, it's good to know that help is just a call away. The Dean of Students Office and the Office of Judicial Affairs ensure that you will not be alone on the path to college success.

Dean of Students Office

College is a time for students to explore new ideas, test the boundaries of their independence, encounter persons unlike themselves, make a difference in their communities, and have fun. The Syracuse University Dean of Students Office serves as a central hub for student services, programs, and educational opportunities that promote academic achievement, retention, and engagement with the world.

Student Legal Services

The Student Association and the Graduate Student Organization fund a legal services program (Student Legal Services) for Syracuse University students. The services available under the program include advice and consultation on various legal problems and court appearances in certain situations by attorneys paid for by funds supplied from your student activity fee. This program is staffed and supervised by practicing attorneys. Since the attorneys work directly for the students and do not work for Syracuse University, all matters will be kept strictly confidential, and the program covers legal conflicts with the University. The staff includes two attorneys, a legal secretary and law clerks.

If you are a Syracuse University student (excluding law students) or a SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry student, have paid the student activity fee, and are registered on main campus, you are eligible for advice and representation as defined here. (As of the 2005-2006 academic year, all Syracuse University graduate students are eligible to use this service. We reserve the right to verify payment of the student activity fee before services are rendered). Part-time undergraduate students and law students are not eligible.
