We are here to improve the academic and social experiences of all transfer students. Together with the Syracuse University community, we aim to provide programs and resources that will help ease the transition for transfers to life here at SU!
A variety of departments and offices have information and resources specifically for transfer students. These resources can be found on the Transfer Student Resources page.
In an effort to assist transfer students in their transition to Syracuse University, First-Year and Transfer Programs has created the Transfer Mentor Program. This program matches successful current transfer students with all incoming transfer students to help new students adjust to campus life. Mentors provide support for their students regarding classes, campus resources, and personal concerns. The program aims to increase the overall academic achievement and satisfaction of transfer students by easing the adjustment and creating leadership opportunities for returning transfer students.
All transfer students are added to a transfer specific email listserv. This listserv is utilized to update students about new programs and ways to get involved on campus, through the monthly Transfer Student Newsletter and other email communication.
FYTP and the Transfer Mentors host monthly social events for transfer students to meet one another and connect with the SU community. Past events have included: apple picking, ice skating, game night, ice cream social, volleyball tournament, coffee and conversation. Please send any program suggestions to email@example.com.
"As both an administrator and as a former transfer student myself, I welcome you to Syracuse University. This is an exciting new beginning for you, with a campus brimming with activities, new friends and opportunities. If you have any questions, know that folks across campus will help you navigate your transition. Attend important transfer orientation activities, designed to help you make the campus your own, and welcome to SU."
